Napier Residents Association – AGM & Committee Election Update

Dear Napier Residents,

We want to thank everyone who participated in the recent Annual General Meeting held on 26 June 2025 and the follow-up committee position elections on 1 July. Your active involvement is vital to ensuring our community’s voice is heard and our shared concerns are addressed.

AGM Highlights (26 June 2025):

• Attendance: We had 69 members present, confirming a strong quorum despite the cold weather.
• Chairperson’s Report: Covered key areas including infrastructure (roads, water, sewage, electricity), heritage protection (heritage inventory and bylaws), law enforcement (introduction of traffic cameras), budget concerns, and water loss issues.
• Treasurer’s Report: Shared a healthy financial overview with a current balance of R5,494, thanks to donations and membership fees.
• Membership Fees: The community voted to keep the membership fee at R10 per year, with hardship waivers available.
• Community Discussion: Important concerns were raised about municipal building maintenance, business involvement, litter and waste management, and the progress of low-income housing developments. Deputy Mayor Karen Donald encouraged residents to use the municipal app “Collaborator” to report issues, promising real-time tracking.
• Commitment: The NRA reaffirmed its focus on infrastructure while acknowledging the need to broaden priorities to include social issues and community wellness.

Committee Elections

On the 1 July 2025 at the first committee meeting positions where elected

• Chairperson: Kevin Poulter was re-elected unopposed.
• Deputy Chairperson: Election deferred to allow new members time to settle in.
• Secretary: Annelene Kriel elected.
• Finance: Colin Tonkin continues as Treasurer.
• CPF Representative: Mark Muuren
• Ward Representative: Kevin Poulter
