Construction Alert: New Taxi Shelters Coming Soon!
The Cape Agulhas Municipality, together with the Western Cape Government’s Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning (DEA&DP) under its Regional Socio-Economic Projects Programme (RSEP), is formalising dedicated taxi pick-up & drop-off shelters in Struisbaai and Napier.
This initiative aims to redress past planning inequities by delivering safe, accessible commuter infrastructure.
What happened so far:
• Feasibility study completed in late 2024.
• Ward consultations held 29–31 October 2024 and ward-based feedback shaped the final plans!
What’s next:
• Construction starts: Monday, 26 May 2025
• What to expect: Minor lane shifts, new signage & traffic controls. Please obey site instructions and plan a few extra minutes for your commute.

Konstruksiewaarskuwing: Nuwe Taxi-Skuilings Binnekort!
Die Kaap Agulhas Munisipaliteit, saam met die Wes-Kaapse Regering se Departement van Omgewingsake & Ontwikkelingsbeplanning (DEA&DP) via die Regional Socio-Economic Projects Programme (RSEP), formaliseer toegewyde taxi-oplaai- en aflaaipunte in Struisbaai en Napier.
Hierdie inisiatief is daarop gemik om historiese beplanningsonregte reg te stel deur veilige, toeganklike pendelinfrastruktuur te lewer.
Wat tot dusver gebeur het:
• Haalbaarheidsstudie laat in 2024 voltooi.
• Wykkonsultasies gehou 29–31 Oktober 2024, en die wykgebaseerde terugvoering het die finale planne gevorm!
Wat is volgende:
• Konstruksie begin: Maandag, 26 Mei 2025
• Wat om te verwag: Klein baanverskuiwings, nuwe padtekens en verkeersbeheer. Volg asseblief al die instruksies ter plaatse en beplan ‘n paar ekstra minute vir jou reis.
